The spectacular, colourful sport of Beach Cross racing for Quad and Solo bikes will be lighting up the main beach at Ramsgate. The riders, mechanics, families and supporters are heading for the popular Kent seaside resort this coming weekend 20th 21st October for the third year in a row for the Ovenden’s Plant Ramsgate Beach Cross event and not only do the competitors want to lift the Ramsgate crown but the event is also the final round of the six round QRA MCF British Beach Cross championship.
Over thirty competitors are crossing the channel from mainland Europe. The competitors are coming from all corners of the UK but also mainland Europe. Current Solo class leader and reigning champion Arnaud Degousee is a Moto Cross Grand Prix rider will be trying to hold on to his lead. But such is the popularity of the Ramsgate event that the Frenchman will have to be on his toes as many top riders are coming to spoil the party. Cedric Tosatto, Marc Decourt two name just to of a long list of spoilers.
The Brits have their work cut out, local support needs to be focussed on quite a number of hopefuls. Broadstairs resident and one of the leading Brits in the championship this year Ali Davies will be hoping the crowds cheers will help him get to the front. Other local names include St Lawrence Tavern sponsored Stephen Ashdown is very excited at the prospect of racing on his home beach along with, Nicholas Lapslie,Ryan Matthews, Daniel Dibb, Gareth Lowery, Michael Giles, Wayne Ledbeatter and Martin Venner. But one rider who is an all out entertainer and was awarded this by his fellow riders is local hero Michael Terraforte, no one gets of their bike like he does!
In the Quad bike class Ramsgate’s Luke Saunders carry’s the hope of the locals on his shoulders as he competes against a very strong line up of top Quad racers. Frenchman Jerome Bricheux is the current leader of the Quad championship Pro Class. Jean Luc Taccoen on his Motoland Secin KTM is snapping at his fellow countryman’s heals for the title but Jamies Clarke from Canvey Island upset the podium of the leaders at round 4 and 5 in Lincolnshire and intends to do the same again. Other British hope comes from QRA Great 8 Endurance champion Sheldon Seal is hoping to bag some points and get to fly the union jack flag on the podium by he end of the weekend.
In addition to the twelve action packed races both days getting underway at 09:30 each morning there will be top stunt rider The Gorilla on A Quad. Please don’t feed him.
Plus for the first time at the QRA Beach Cross events Side by Side demonstration races. These are 1000cc machines which are like a Quad but with steering wheel, roll cage and race harnesses for both driver and passenger. Several of these racers are coming from France for this debut outing and will an awesome addition to the event.
The event is FREE to spectators and has the backdrop of town, waterside bars, restaurants plus trade stands etc will complement the town and the event. Please note there is no access to the beach and no need because the best place to watch is from the promenade along the main beach at Ramsgate.

Yes it’s almost time for the 2012 Ramsgate Beach Cross – 2 days of racing on the sands at Ramsgate with riders from the UK and Europe.
After the first two events we finish the 2012 series with rounds 5 and 6 over the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October 2012 – and 24 action packed races for quad and solo classes.

Memories of last year’s event – and looking forward to this year!
The QRA UK returns once again to the fabulous Kent seaside resort of RAMSGATE for the Ramsgate Beach Cross weekend which takes takes place on the 20th and 21st October 2012.
The weekend is also rounds 5 and 6 of the British Beach Cross Championship and spaces are limited so don’t miss out in the MX or Quad classes.
Full event details will be released over the coming weeks from accommodation deals to any “special events” over the weekend.
